Kutch, one of the largest and most distinctive districts of India is located in the state of Gujarat. It celebrates the Rann of Kutch festival which is famously known as the Rann Utsav. The tourism of Gujarat celebrates this festival at the edge of White Rann during the period of November to February. Rann Utsav begins in the Bhuj city and goes around the district with a grand finale again being held at the preliminary destination.
What is Rann Utsav?
Rann Utsav is the Carnival of Music, Dance & Culture of Gujarat. It includes different activities like the Traditional Cultural Dance, Cultural Act show, Camel Safari, Musical Moments, Live in Tents & many more activities. This festival provides an exclusive opportunity to witness the creative ingenuity of the artisans and craftspeople, the assorted array of folk music and performances, mixed representation of culture and communities, along with a vast diversity in ecology. Around 8000 tourists from all over the world visit Kutch every year and enjoy its magical beauty and diversity.
Who organizes Rann Utsav?
The Government of Gujarat organizes Rann Utsav festival. During this festival, Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd. provides the arrangements of transportation, accommodation, food & guide for a sightseeing visit to the tourists. Approximately 350 live luxury tents are being built here with good organization of the Government of Gujarat and its supporters.
When it was started?
Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi launched Rann Utsav in the year 2006. He visualize this festival to create a new identity mark on the global tourism map.
When it will take place?
Utsav will start during the grand winter when the full moon will spread its
magic. It will take place from 28th October 2019 to 23rd February 2020. This
period will be mesmerizing when the earth will turn into heaven.
